Ouch, fall to Pepperdine in the 8 vs. 9 game.
This post is more of a compliment to the job JR Payne did. The program has not been competitive for 10+ years and she was able to get them to the NIT in two years. She leaves and we are right back to the bottom of the pack. Pretty disappointing.
Women’s basketball has been atrocious. JR and her husband did a great job while they were here. Torino did so much to help JR and I always felt he didn’t get enough credit but as a team they worked great together. Too bad they didn’t stay longer but it was well known if you knew them they wanted out asap. They couldn’t stand having Staci as a supervisor. They would never say it publicly but if you knew T and JR you knew the deal. Renee has completely struck out on this hire.
