I’m ok with it. My guess is that HS feels like he doesn’t need more time with the team…rather, he wants to start bringing in “his” guys for next year and start fresh with them as soon as he can (not sure what the practice rules are nowadays).

on March 13, 2017

Guessing it wasn’t his choice.

on March 13, 2017

based on what?

on March 14, 2017

The fact that he would want to play.

on March 14, 2017

Did HS call you up?

on March 14, 2017

Psh. I call him.

I’m glad, those 2 “tourneys” are a waste of resources… Had to laugh at the CIT in particular. They have 26 teams in their tourney (I’m no mathematician, but that seems like one messy bracket).  They just make it up as they go… so glad SCU is not part of that circus.

CBI is an actual tournament, you are right.

CIT is a sh*tshow.

We already have two of the four banners for the aforementioned tournaments. Better to spend time going after the other two.

USF over SCU in the CBI seems weird.

on March 13, 2017

We were playing better basketball at the end of the year, but over the course of the season USF remained above us in bpi and kenpom – which is probably the extent of the CBI selection process.

on March 14, 2017

Don’t think there is much of a selection process for the CBI … more a did your check clear kind of process.

The marginal upside of these tournaments is nil. SCU won the the CIT in 2011 and finished 7-22 in 2012. They won the CBI in 2013 and then finished 13-19 in 2014. Instead of spending money on tournament fees, get out and recruit. I am 100% on board with not playing these games.

on March 13, 2017

to follow up though, if I was a Don I would be annoyed with not getting an NIT bid.

on March 13, 2017

I think we sunk their chances in the tournament honestly. If they had beaten us twice or gotten a win over BYU, they’d have a top-100 rpi and be another game over the 20-win mark. That, I think would have gotten them a low NIT seed.

on March 13, 2017

That is probably fair. Good season for the Dons under Kyle Smith, outside of losing Boyce (who was their clear number one guy) they bring everyone else back which will make them dangerous over the next two years.

They’re garbage. Certainly not NIT caliber.
