SCU Will Have No Fall Sports Teams in NCAAs for 1st Time Since 1988

This will be the first time in 28 years (not since 1988) that SCU will be SHUTOUT of a Fall Sport NCAA Tourney appearance — in WSoc, MSoc or VB.  (None of the teams have a postseason tourney, or have an at-large chance of getting to postseason play.)
Not sure what it means to our program overall … its too early to say SCU is putting too much emphasis on Men’s Hoops.  But it IS surprising, especially given how well our Fall Sports teams have performed over the years.

I think this is mostly due to the coincidental collapse of all three “major” fall sports teams this year. Remember that W Soccer opened the season with two wins over ranked teams AND was ranked themselves before underperforming the rest of the way. Volleyball nearly made it through preseason undefeated and was ranked in the top 20 before imploding. M Soccer was predicted to win league by the coaches, but didn’t live up to that. This seems to me to indicate that the resources and talent were all there for these programs, but they just all faded down the stretch, oddly in the same year.

Neat (if depressing) fact, though.

Leave it to BB to make my point using about 100 fewer words. 😝

Moreover, it’s looking more likely than not that W Soccer will make the tournament after all…

FYI. Bronco women in sweet sixteen in soccer after beating Stanford 1-0. Beat Long Berach St in first round.  Maybe men’s BB should watch the women’s soccer team to get some pointers.

Moreover, not to put the cart before the horse, but extra incentive this year to win a couple more, as the Final Four is going to be literally just across the tracks in Avaya this year.

Looks like they scored in the 2OT – the 110th minute after getting outshot by Stanford 30-7. Well done broncos!
