For those that like to monitor this sort of thing, this is the easiest place to keep track of all the D1 transfers.http://www.verbalcommits.com/transfers/2017

thanks for sharing! So far, leaving from the WCC, I see one from SMC, two from Pepp, and one from USF

I think there are 3-4 from Portland as well.

Jazz Johnson is one. The walking Xavier Hallinan is heading to a D2 school CSUDH.

Wonder where power forward Chase Jeter of Duke will end up.  He’s 6’10” and a former 5 star high schooler from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas.  I’ve been trying to think of a school that could use a big power forward.

I wonder about Zags Big Ryan Edwards… I hear he is graduating and still has 1 year left.  He won’t get any time next year with Gonzaga, but he could probably average a double double with any of the other WCC teams not named Gonzaga, SMC, or BYU.

This list will grow by a factor of 15. I think over 700 D1 transfers per year in recent years.
The 4 so far from WCC aren’t big names but of course there will be more that announce over next 2-3 months including 1 or 2 from SCU (just my guess, no inside info).

BB- no doubt Edwards could contribute for most WCC teams, maybe start for several but doubt he’d average anywhere close to double figures in rebound…points, maybe. He has a similar makeup as Karnowaki in size, athletic ability and skill set but not as strong or aggressive and seems to lack a ‘motor’. Karnowski only has about 6-7 reb/game career average so doubt Edwards gets to 10 regardless of minutes played and who he’s playing for.
Another GU name who’s a transfer candidate is Bryon Alberts, SoCal kid i believe; 6-5 wing who’s fairly athletic and can shoot it. His playing time hasn’t grown and he’s more or less been recruited over by Zach Norvell who redshirted due to injury and Cory Kispert who arrives next year. We’ll see…

on March 29, 2017

Alberts has no desire he leave unless he graduates
He already redshirted

on March 29, 2017

Your source in Alberts’ mindset?

on March 29, 2017

He likes Gonzaga and if he doesn’t graduate he can only transfer to a D2 D3 or NAIA. If he didn’t leave after last year knowing the depth chart with the transfers he most likely really enjoys being at Gonzaga. Worked out pretty well for him this year to be on a Final Four team

on April 13, 2017

Well….Alberts is in fact transferring from GU; taking summer classes to graduate in a little over 3years. As a grad transfer he’ll be immediately eligible and has 2 years of eligibility remaining (redshirted his 1st year).
I suspect he’ll land at a solid mid-major and maybe a high major, get solid PT and maybe start. Wouldn’t be surprised if he avg. 12-15pts if he gets 25+mins.
He’s on the Dutch national team and is one of their leading scorers playing against international competition and grown men. For whatever reason things never fully clicked w/ Zags, maybe just a bad fit in terms of style of play, they seemed to want him to camp on perimeter and be catch/shoot 3pt shooter but he’s more versatile than that.
Would love it if Sendek brought him to SCU but don’t see him transferring to another WCC school.

Jazz Johnson for Portland and Lampkin and Bowles for Pacific are all solid players, mostly starters. Things may get worse before they get better at those two places.
I hope we don’t experience anything similar w/ some of better players (Feagin, Hauser, Pugh, Ndumanya).
