A lot of good topics on where the Broncos are and may be going under Coach Sendek.
It’s apparent he can coach…Pugh, “E”, Nate, KJ, etc have shown real improvement. Hauser has been a bit of a mixed bag, but competes. The talent upgrades are starting with this recruiting class – Turner, Walters, and Vrankic.
Begs the question, is Coach Sendek “big” on bigs?
Looking a bit into this SCU recruiting class and his history at NC State and ASU – seems like he prefers a roster of 6-3 to 6-8 athlete’s who can shoot it, slash, and can defend.
More on that in an upcoming Bucking Bronco story.
Turner, Walters fit that model and were great “gets.” Vrankic, although listed at 6-9 is a”small” big. Only weighs 205.
The highlight videos of Turner and Walters are exciting to watch. Maybe reminds coach of his James Harden and Julius Hodge stars. He did have some good true big men on his best teams, but not many. Enough to make paint scoring legit to open room for the Harden types to take over.
Just to start a discussion, it does seem that those are the types of players that will match up better with the WCC top 3 – especially the Zags with their talent and depth at the guard spot and just enough Karnowski and Collins to make the system work.
IMHO, It make take two more years to get the athletes we need, but I like the direction!
