After a Record Breaking Night USD comes to town

After SCU set the NCAA record for made 3’s in a D1 game last night, USD (losers of 7 of their last 8 come to Leavy).  $200 up for grabs for a correct score.  I’ll say SCU shows us another glimpse of their potential.

SCU 74  USD 55

SCU 71-USD 46
Hard not to be high on SCU after that nearly-perfect Pepperdine game.

@ better broncos. What school held the record before? How many?

on February 17, 2017

I was trying to find info on this but came up short. Per the department’s press release, SCU shattered its previous record of 16 3’s in a game and tied the conference record held by Gonzaga. So it wouldn’t have broken an NCAA record if we tied for the conference record, though I suppose it’s possible that 22 3’s is the record in the NCAA.

on February 17, 2017

I read a little further: SCU’s 22 3’s is the 12th best in NCAA history.

on February 17, 2017

You must be right… 21 (LMU vs Michigan in 1990… the best offensive game I have ever seen in person) must be the record for NCAA tournament games only.   Makes sense as some teams fire 40 3’s a night so you’d figure the # would be higher.   My apologies… still a remarkable feat last night by the Broncos.

Agreed. Remarkable performance.

gonna go modest here, 61-52 broncos.

I watched the USD game against SMC and boy they cannot shoot. If we play half as well as last night we should win.

Lightning doesn’t strike twice in Broncoland (just yet). But I am going with the broncos to just edge the spread (11).  70-58

69-57 Santa Clara. Hope we can keep this roll against inferior competition going. Would be great to play SMC for 3rd a week from today.

I missed the last game, so I’m putting out good vibes to see this happen again! Once is a fluke, twice is a pattern. SCU 88-51.

Gotta figure they come back to earth a bit after the outlier against Pepperdine. Still, I’m expecting them to take care of this one on their home court. Santa Clara 68 – San Diego 58.

Why do you keep saying they set an NCAA record? They didn’t, they didn’t even come close.

Honest mistake sorted out above.

It’s going to be a long time before I give this poster the benefit of doubt after what he tried to do to me. Still haven’t ruled out suing his ass.

Also does anyone know why the stream isn’t working on the SCU site? It says waiting to go live…which is obvioiusly silly.

Looks like another game where Brownridge forgot when tip off was.

No one came to wake him up for the second half too. Just embarrassing to have this kind of performance against one of the worst teams in the conference.
